There are 122 hotels and 21 hotel chains in Palma de Mallorca alone, according to hotel stats; and 95 of them (more than 70%) are independent boutique hotels; the other 30% belong to 21 hotel chains. With almost 700 hotels on Mallorca, it is pretty safe to say that tourism is one of the key prime industries.
