The Best of East Mallorca 2024

In East Mallorca, you will find the island’s most expansive beaches, with the softest sand and calm, crystal waters.

There are also some great restaurants, excellent fine dining, and a beach club for when the mood strikes.

Cala Mesquida

Beach

*expansive, soft sand and crystalline waters

80 minutes EAST of Palma is Cala Mesquida

🏖️🏝️🍟🏊‍♀️🌊

Cala Mesquida is one of the wider soft-sand beaches on Mallorca. As one of the biggest beaches on the island, it is also one where you are most likely able to get a spot, even if you arrive later in the day. There are a few parking lots here, but they are likely to fill up quickly; you can also try to find a parking spot within the local neighbourhood streets, which does allow for non-resident parking.

You have the option to rent beach loungers here, but there is even more space to lie your towel down. There’s also a beach hut that sells snacks and beers, and a beach restaurant. The water here is gorgeous and crystal clear, and it has been calm most times I have visited, so there tend to be more families there. There are times when it can get some pretty big waves (when it does get like this, they section off an area for swimming).

Cala Agulla

Beach

*widest beach with soft sand & amenities

70 minutes EAST of Palma is Cala Agulla

🏖️🏝️🍟🏊‍♀️🌊

Your other best Each Mallorca beach option is Cala Agulla, which is almost double the width of Cala Mesquida, and also has soft sand and crystal waters, and is a 15 minute drive south from Cala Mesquida, and about a 70 minute drive from Palma.

It does have a paid parking lot, which will likely fill up quickly in the summer months; you can also try to find parking in the neighbourhood.

There are some spots where you might stumble across rocks in the water, so be mindful of that. You will also find two beach kiosks, a beach restaurant, and sun loungers and umbrellas for rent here.

Numa Beach Club

Beach Club with Mediterranean + Asian restaurant

*lively beach club

45 minutes away from Palma in the NORTHEAST

Season ends December, 2024

🌞🏖️🏝️🇪🇸🇯🇵🍣🍹🎶

Numa Beach Club opened in 2023, and is my top choice for beach clubs in Mallorca. With views of Playa de Muro, you can book Balinese beds to lounge for the day, and also make reservations to eat at their seafront restaurant.

This is the best of both worlds, the ocean is just steps away, and you can return from your swim to relax under the canopy of your beach bed, plus snack on food while you’re there.

€250 for 2 ppl Balinese bed

Make sure to stop by Gelats Valls for an ice cream treat before you leave the area, it’s a 3 minute walk from Numa Beach.

trobar

Mediterranean + Mexican + American

*innovative + design focused

WebsiteInstagramGoogle MapsBook Reservation

*trobar is very close to Cala Agulla

Book lunch or dinner at `trobar gastronomy´We – Su 12:30pm – 4pm & 7pm – 11pm. Closed Mo & Tu.

🌞🌛🇪🇸🇲🇽🇺🇸🍴🌵🍹🎨

trobar is like nowhere else on the island, and a really fun experience, with incredible attention to design, down to the ceramics used for plating (which makes it a top choice for me). In addition to dining and drinks, the space also serves as an art gallery and shop.

trobar spans three levels: at street level is `trobar gastronomy´, which offers a small plate menu of South American cuisine, blended with Mallorcan, and North American references. The `rooftop trobar´opened in June 2024, and is a little more casual, serving American-style bar snacks (think gourmet hotdogs + burgers, with a Mallorcan twist). And finally, there is `trobasement´, their underground cocktail lounge, featuring tequilas and mezcal cocktails.

Restaurant Can Simoneta Gastrònomic

Mediterranean + Mexican | Sol Repsol

*well paired flavours, al fresco fine dining

WebsiteInstagramGoogle MapsBook Reservation

Located at Hotel Can Simoneta

Dinner only; open every night

🌛🇪🇸🇲🇽🍴🍷🌟

Enjoy Restaurant Can Simoneta à la carte for dinner, with gourmet dishes that fuse two of my favorites: Mediterranean culture with Mexican flavors. In a romantic waterfront location on a cliff-top near the bay of Canyamel, and set in the garden of the finca hotel Can Simoneta.

The menu comes from the vision of Mexican-born chef David Moreno, who grew his skills working in Argentina, Thailand, Japan, Canada, and Barcelona. His talent and experience shines through in the menu, and earned him one Sol Repsol. Try to get a table on the terrace and enjoy dining al fresco. Please note that the dress code here is smart casual, shorts are not allowed.

Located at the Es Racó d'Artà hotel

Lunch & Dinner, days differ seasonally

🌞🌛🇪🇸🍴🍷🌟

Es Racó d'Artà is the epitome of dreamy retreat, a slow paced mecca of relaxation and rejuvenation. It dates back to the 13th century and before that, it was a Berber settlement called Beni Axir, which is the inspiration behind the name.

With the intention of "going back to the origins", they work with products that come directly from their organic gardens and from small artisans and local producers. Each dish is designed according to the season.

Anything you experience within this estate is unforgettable.
