One Week in Mallorca: The best of the island for summer + fall 2024
Your dreamiest, and tastiest, Mallorca itinerary
I recently put together a list of my very top choices for all things Mallorca for two friends, one who is traveling to Mallorca in August of 2024, and the other in October of 2024.
The exercise of curating a more refined list of places, with the intention of creating the best memories for my friends, was something I really enjoyed. I was pleasantly reminded of and amazed by the many incredible destinations there are to choose from - and what an excellent problem that is to have.
In the spirit of gratitude for having been able to experience the magic of Mallorca for myself, to the people that have brought these incredible places and spaces to life, and with a warmhearted generosity which I aim to put out into the universe, knowing everything reflects back to you - I wanted to share that same list here.
This list is for anyone planning to visit Mallorca in summer or early fall of 2024. These are the places I recommend in the hopes that you will enjoy Mallorca to the fullest - with a bit of extra attention dedicated to Palma - when spending one to two weeks on the island.
With the recent rise in popularity in tourism to Mallorca, I would suggest a visit in the shoulder months. It’s important to treat the land with respect, and to preserve it’s magical quality. Not only does the influx in tourism affect the landscape, it also affects your experience as both a tourist, and as a local.
I hope you will appreciate how truly special Mallorca is ✨

Palma de Mallorca
When I think of Palma, what first comes to mind is how absolutely beautiful it is, with it’s rich and diverse cultural influence on architecture, surrounded by nature you are in awe of, and the energy created by the community there.
But, a close second is the food: a huge array of spectacular Mediterranean and international dining options that use the freshest market ingredients. Having said that, there are some places that stand out more than others. Sharing a little bit of everything is what I always suggest as the best way to dine, to enjoy as many dishes off the menu as possible.
I would book dinner reservations pretty far in advance for everywhere you want to go, places book up quickly, and some have more limited seating. Lunch reservations are also recommended, if there is anywhere you are especially keen to try.
Palma’s newest & noteworthy places:
Sep 25, 2024 note:
We do our best to keep you as up to date as possible with the newest and most noteworthy places.
Please head over to “The Newest Places in Palma in 2024” journal entry for a more extensive list of Palma’s brightest and best establishments to have opened within the last year or so.
A selection of these are included below:

Little Jarana started as a pop-up restaurant in Deià and chef JJ. Abraham Artigas just opened his long-awaited Palma location. Super local, fresh and creative menu.
In collaboration with The Wine Side (which you will see mentioned later on this list), the new location is tucked a little bit off the beaten path in Palma, just up from Santa Catalina.

Palma, my go-to favourites and recommendations for lunch and dinner:
Mercat de l’Olivar
Local Fresh and Prepared Food Market
*worth a late morning, early afternoon visit
Website • Instagram • Google Maps
Central / Old Town Palma
Open 7am - 2:30pm; closed Sundays
🌞🇪🇸🍉🍒🍤🍴
Mercat de l’Olivar is close to the Old Town, and bigger than the market in Santa Catalina. You will find local merchants selling everything from produce and cheeses, to meats and seafood, plus bread, herbs and packaged goods here (there is also a grocery store upstairs, which stays open later.).
Lots of vendors selling ready-to-eat food, with the ultimate freshness attainable. Check out :
Degustación Buades for traditional Spanish tapas, like Ibérico ham and bread drizzled in olive oil
Mercat Negre for seafood tapas
Daruma Olivar for Japanese, sushi and more
El Hummus for Middle Eastern food

El Camino
Modern Mediterranean (Spanish)
*best modern Mediterranean, in my opinion
Website • Instagram • Google Maps • Book Reservation
Central Palma
Lunch & Dinner; closed on Sundays & Mondays
🌞🌛🇪🇸🍴🍷
El Camino is my top choice for Modern Mediterranean. The space is beautifully designed, bright and modern, with a long seated bar area. More than three people might be difficult for conversation at the bar, unless you are seated at the corner seats. But, there are also a few additional and more private tables at the back of the room. Small space, reso required.
What to order: grilled octopus, Pan con Tomate (Spanish tomato toast, which is everywhere, but this one is my fave), something from the fresh sheet, and the beetroot, blue cheese and walnuts salad; What else to consider: padrón peppers, scallops, beef filet

Stagier Bar
Mediterranean + Peruvian + Mexican
*my favourite in all of Palma
Website • Instagram • Google Maps • Book Reservation
Santa Catalina
Lunch We - Fr, Dinner Mo - Fr; closed Sa & Su (as of Sep 2024)
🌛🇪🇸🇵🇪🇲🇽🍴🍷
Stagier is the restaurant I recommend to everyone that visits Palma, and is the one I would book in at when dining with people who are visiting. It never disappoints, and I always Iook forward to dishes I’ve already had. The space is intimate and cozy, but on a busier street, which takes away slightly from the ambience, but the food more than distracts you from it. I would recommend almost everything on the menu. Get the smoky butter and warm sourdough bread to start, definitely at least a scallop each, and share dessert. You really, really can’t go wrong here though.
What to order: tiradito (similar to ceviche), scallops, the gyozas with lomo saltado (marinated strips of sirloin), and either the frozen lemon pie or passion fruit pudding, plus a natural wine; What else to consider: tuna tortilla, cebiche, avocado cannelloni with lobster, and the wagyu hanger steak

*fresh forward thinking wine bar
Website • Instagram • Google Maps • Book Reservation
Nord Palma
Mo 5-10pm; Tu & We 4-11:30pm; Th-Sa noon - 11:30pm; closed Sundays
🌞🌛🇪🇸🍴🍷
Bar La Sang is a cozy wine bar from a young and forward thinking team. For a lively, local and laidback vibe, I would come here. The staff are super warm and friendly, and the space is filled with bottles, local art, and a mishmash of seating, which adds to the charm. They offer an amazing selection of wines, and they also have a wine shop.
There is also a menu of super fresh and tasty Mediterranean inspired snacks and small share plates - plus, they often collaborate with chefs for pop-up dinners (and sometimes for a more Mediterranean inspired global menu), so you can expect something new here often.

de tokio a lima
Mediterranean + Japanese + Peruvian
*if you want to dine al fresco
Website • Instagram • Google Maps • Book Reservation
Central Palma; Located in the Can Alomar Hotel
Lunch & Dinner; open every day
🌞🌛🇪🇸🇯🇵🇵🇪🍴🍷
De Tokio A Lima has one of the best patios in Palma, just above the busy Paseo del Borne; you will feel like you are somewhere much more private, sitting at tree top level. The menu is good, but it did feel less fusion than I was expecting and maybe not as surprising as I was hoping for, especially considering the price. For a similar ambience, go for drinks at the outdoor bar patio that is right next to the dining patio, and also part of the Can Alomar Hotel experience.
What to order: shrimp fritters, tuna tartar, roasted octopus; What else to consider: the mango and avocado salad, beef sirloin tataki, Sóller lemon pie

La Bodeguilla
Classic Mediterranean | Michelin Star
*more classic, dark + cozy, good for sharing
Website • Instagram • Google Maps • Book Reservation
Central Palma
Lunch & Dinner; open every day
🌞🌛🇪🇸🍴🍷
La Bodeguilla has quite a bit of seating, but still book in advance. Housed in a 12th century building, so it feels more like a traditional room, cozy and dark. A great place to share a bunch of menu items. Their ‘‘Senyoret’’ rice dish with scallop, red shrimp and squid feels like a better balanced version of a paella, without overkill on the rice. My favourite menu item here is the mille feuille dessert - the most fantastic raspberry and caramel version of one I have ever tried.
What to order: tuna tartar, burrata, ‘‘Senyoret’’ rice, any of their fish dishes, the mille feuille dessert; What else to consider: steak tartar, patatas bravas, calamari, beef cheek

Restaurante Casa Maruka
Classic Mediterranean (Spanish) | Sol Repsol
*most authentic Spanish Mediterranean
Website • Instagram • Google Maps • Book Reservation
Nord Palma
Lunch & Dinner; no dinner on Mo, closed on Su
(closed for vacation from August 3 - September 2, 2024)
🌞🌛🇪🇸🍴🍷
Restaurante Casa Maruka is a bit of a trek, but a good excuse to wander through Old Town and take in more of Palma on your way to the Nord. The menu feels like elevated home cooking, cozy and made with care. They also have one Sol Repsol, which is like the Michelin star of Spain.
What to order: check out their fresh sheet for seafood (get the grilled calamari if they have it), croquettes, cod in pil-pil sauce, Mallorcan frito with fried egg, french fries, beef tenderloin, and made-to-order apple pie (which takes about 30 minutes, so best to mention you want to order this when you are ordering for dinner)

*unique experience with cocktail pairings

In between Santa Catalina and Palma
Dinner only; Open 8pm - 2am; open Th through Sa
🌛🇪🇸🍴🍹
This is a super unique concept to Palma. Opened mid-2023 and tucked away down a stairwell inside of the cocktail bar Ginbo is Sala de Personal.
With two tasting menu formats that change often and depend on what’s freshest at the Mercat de l’Olivar; they serve either four or six dishes paired with low alcohol cocktails to start. The space later transitions to a regular cocktail bar. Expect red neon lighting, and really fresh food.
With only room for 14 at this 2024 Sol Repsol establishment, make a reso.

Spot Mallorca
Mediterranean + Various International
*trendy design & space
Website • Instagram • Google Maps • Book Reservation
Santa Catalina
Lunch & Dinner; open every day
🌞🌛🇪🇸🌍🍴🍷
The Spot Mallorca space in Santa Catalina is nicely designed (same group as Barcelona’s Bar Lobo and Green Spot). The food is good, but I will also say that it can be inconsistent. They have a very reasonably priced (around €20) 3-course weekly lunch menu that includes a drink - so it is definitely worth checking out for lunch. They also have an a la carte menu for lunch, and of course an la carte menu for dinner.
What to order: come for the €20 3-course set lunch menu, otherwise get the crispy cauliflower (almost worth a double order, this is a favourite), lamb kefta, pulled pork tacos, and banoffee pie for dessert; What else to consider: the croquettes, edamame, and Bluefin Tuna tartar

Restaurant Botànic
International | Plant Forward
*for a plant-forward meal

Central Palma; Located in the Can Bordoy Hotel
Lunch & Dinner; open every day
🌞🌛🌍🍴🌱🍹
Restaurant Botànic has more vegetable forward options. Sit outside on the veranda if it’s balmy weather. But the multiple rooms indoor all have their own lovely aestheic. Food is fanciful, clever and tasty, although the portions are on the smaller side for certain dishes. There are some seafood and meat dishes or dish add-ons, but the basis of the menu is plants. The cocktails here are good too.
What to order: cocktails, cauliflower tabouleh salad, leeks, beetroot, the kurries

If you want to walk the half hour along the seaside promenade to check out Portixol, this is where I would opt to dine. With an enviable corner location with views of the water, plus large windows and wraparound patio. The sister restaurant to La Bodeguilla, they specialize in seafood, but you will also find meat items on the menu; some of their dishes also feature at La Bodeguilla.

Rikito has pasta, pizza, and starters - the food here is good, and generally solid. What is neat about it is the location, nestled within the car-free street of Carrer de la Fabrica in Santa Catalina (along with many other restaurant and bar patios). It is perfect for al fresco dining and people watching. Their interior is cute as well, colourful with playful antique wall art and decor.

*top pick for casual tacos

L’Informal Tacos is my top pick for casual tacos. A cozy space, the 10 choices for tacos here are a bit more on the modern side, and include baja tempura fish, crispy chicken, and beef brisket. The guacamole is great, and if you love cheese, get the Classic Melted Cheese Casserole, which is basically the best queso you will have. The tortilla chips and margaritas are both excellent.

DOOR 13 is a 1920s time capsule that’s been turned into a speakeasy. Located underground in a historic building in the Old Town, it is dark and romantic, usually has a different live band every night, and serves classic cocktails with clever twists.
With a secret speakeasy feel, it’s not as obvious to find (no signage at all, so use google maps), and the door opens only to those who know the entry code (which you can seek out via their social media), get lucky by buzzing the bell and getting a response, or have managed to book a table in advance.

There are three locations for Rivareno - the one in Plaça de Lloyja is the main one, and often has a line up. The line moves quickly, and the gelato is worth the wait, including some really excellent vegan options.
Try the pistachio (both the dairy and vegan one are remarkable). My other two favourites are passion fruit and coffee, which are also incredibly flavourful - but you can’t go wrong here.
There is a location right by the Cathedral that tends to be less busy, as well as another one in Santa Catalina.

Palma, a few shops worth noting:
There is no shortage of shopping in Palma. You can find everything from high end luxury shopping at Louis Vuitton to Zara in one of the nicest buildings I have ever seen a Zara in, from family run businesses that feature Mallorquin products through to ubiquitous souvenir shops.
My advice is meant to help you find unique treasures to bring home with you, those not found in your typical tourist shops, or more globally accessible stores. These make for the best keepsakes.
Access more shops within Palma, and across Mallorca via the WKDY Wanderer maps and online directories; and read up on additional shops and their details via the Guide. Please note that shops are closed on Sundays.

With the charm of a secret location, housed in a historic townhome hidden on a small side street with an unassuming doorway; you need to discreetly buzz in to begin your journey.
Make your way through a series of rooms, taking your time in each one; each room is furnished with antiquities that tell the story behind one of their six scents. Eventually, you will find yourself stepping into their warm and inviting grand salon, the most dreamy space.
It truly is a beautiful memory and perfect memento to leave Palma with something from Arquinesia. With elegant branding, their lovely and evocative scents can also be purchased as lotions, candles, soaps, and more.

Rialto Living
Boutique Department Store
Website • Instagram • Google Maps
Central Palma
Another remarkable architecture and design experience to take in is the concept lifestyle store, Rialto Living. The building was originally an 18th century palacio style family home, and then became the Rialto Cinema in 1926, one of Palma’s most emblematic and historical picture houses, until it closed in 2002. A Swedish couple lovingly brought it back to life when it re-opened in 2007, as a tastefully curated lifestyle store. Architectural details were carefully restored and feature prominently throughout the store, and it truly is remarkable.
You can find a selection of fashion, decor for every room in your home, furniture and textiles, as well as books and thoughtful gifts. There are a lot of rooms to stroll through, and it is guaranteed you will find something you will want to bring home, if not many things!
You can also visit their indoor courtyard Café Rialto, or sign up for the occasional summer yoga class on their outdoor patio; it’s another special experience that is unique to Palma.

It pleases me to say that the Masscob store is yet another one of my favorite design spaces in Palma. A Spanish women’s fashion brand, the Palma store is one of only 4 locations in Spain.
An incredible restoration of a historic building, the two floors of the Palma store features a combination of stone, lime, vault ceilings and fine woods (credit to Moredesign studio in collaboration with Laurent Deroo Architects).
The fashion is timeless yet sophisticated basics, with exceptional material quality, and nice detailing. The price reflects the quality of the collection, and these are pieces you will keep in your wardrobe for years. It will be easy to find a few things you might want to take home with you from here.

If it feels like I am guiding you on a more sensorial shopping tour of Palma, then you are right. Cortana is another exceptional space and unique multiple-room retail experience to take your time in perusing. A women’s fashion store started by local Mallorcan designer, Rosa Esteva, the collections feature fine fabrics and feminine silhouettes.
Their space is next to Rialto Living, and is a delightful exploration of a historic building, with the collection revealing itself to you piece by piece via a series of stunning and softly lit rooms.
They also have a dedicated bridal couture section, and to access it, you need to make a reservation (if wedding dress shopping happens to be on your mind).

Roberto, the Italian craftsman behind the brand, comes from a background as an architect and illustrator. The showroom, which displays his latest work, also feels intimate, with sketches hinting as insight into his process.
His collections include his reflection of places, from the Amalfi coast to Japan, to ceramic styles from historical periods that have inspired him, and collaborations based on his time on the island.
His pieces are both thoughtful and unique, meaningful yet whimsical. The most lovely souvenirs for your home.

The rest of Mallorca
While Palma is the more bustling capital of Mallorca, there are some towns and beaches you don’t want to miss while you are on the island. Depending on what time of year you visit, and how much time you want to spend at the beach, I’ve organized the next section accordingly. The best part is, that no matter where you travel to, or happen to be staying in outside of Palma, you will find charming cafés and incredible restaurants.
Mallorcan Beach + Town destinations:
You will find beaches all across the island, and many more via WKDY Wanderer. Keeping in mind that most people will want to spend at least one to three days visiting other parts of Mallorca, I’ve kept this list relatively short. I also recommend that any beach day should include a visit to a nearby restaurant, and have provided some options below.
Santanyí:
Perfect for a market morning + beach + town day; or on any other day, as a beach + town destination.
Santanyí is a 10 - 15 minute drive from the beaches listed below. Go to Santanyí for a meal, and simply to wander around. You can also catch the weekly market here on Wednesdays and Saturdays, if you are keen to arrive in Santanyí in the morning; the Saturday one gets very busy as it is one of the most popular on the island, but go early to both.
What makes Santanyí especially charming is that the city is designed for pedestrians. Find parking on the outskirts, and stroll into the centre of town.
Cala Llombards
Beach
*my favourite cala
50-60 minutes SOUTH of Palma is Cala Llombards
🏖️🍟🏊♀️🤽♂️🏝️💦🚿
Cala Llombards is one of my favorites, and one of the most picturesque beaches in Mallorca. It is on the smaller side, so arrive early to get a parking spot (there is a small lot, or you can try your luck with parking in the neighborhood and walk down some stairs to get here).
A sandy white shore with clear water, it is in a shallow cove, with rocks or cliffs on either side of it. If you can’t find seats on the beach, you can always choose to sit on the rocks, or jump off from them for a swim. You can also rent beach loungers and umbrellas down here, if you are an early bird. It does get crowded in the summer months, with its narrow width, so you need to be okay with that. There’s also a beach bar (Chiringuito Cala Llombards) down here, and a couple of outdoor showers and basic toilets.

Caló del Moro + Cala s’Almunia
Adjacent beaches, with two distinct vibes
*two of Mallorca’s most infamous beaches
50-60 minutes SOUTH of Palma are Caló del Moro + Cala s’Almunia
🏝️🏊♀️💦
Caló del Moro and Cala s’Almunia are most definitely two of the most famous and photographed beach coves in Mallorca. Caló del Moro is a small sandy beach cove, whereas Cala s’Almunia is a rocky cove. They are both stunning with amazing turquoise waters.
You will first arrive at Cala s’Almunia, where you can sit on the rocks, or jump and dive off from the cliffs - there is actually much more seating here, if you don’t mind sitting on rocks. To get to Caló del Moro, you need to walk along a nature path to the left of Cala s’Almunia; the walk is 10 minutes or less. You will arrive at the top of the cliff above Caló del Moro, the sandy beach is below it and it is a bit of a scramble down to the beach, so it does require some physicality.
Keeping mindful of treating the landscape of Mallorca with respect, I suggest a visit in the shoulder months; with their recent rise in popularity, the coves can get very busy, and it does affect the land, as well as the experience. Parking can be tricky to find here; try for free parking on the main road and walk down to the beaches, as road access is for residents only (yellow lines on the roads indicate resident only parking).

Opened in mid-2023, La Nouvelle Famille is a fresh and welcome concept to the town of Santanyí. Husband and wife owners beautifully updated an original tavern, and preserved the charming central bar, as well as the wooden windows and doors, and added a cute outdoor seating area.
The innovative menu is modern European, but is also inspired by the local market. Visiting La Nouvelle Famille comes down to timing: you can get breakfast on Market days (Wednesday and Saturday), it functions as a wine bar during which lunch and dinner are available (although dinner service depends on the season), plus they also offer a late and long Sunday brunch. I really hope to see more places like this open in Mallorca.

East Mallorca:
In the east, you will find Mallorca’s biggest, most expansive beaches, with soft sand and calm, crystal waters. You will also find some excellent restaurants, and my favourite beach club.
Cala Mesquida
Beach
*expansive, soft sand and crystalline waters
80 minutes EAST of Palma is Cala Mesquida
🏖️🏝️🍟🏊♀️🌊
Cala Mesquida is one of the wider soft-sand beaches on Mallorca. As one of the biggest beaches on the island, it is also one where you are most likely able to get a spot, even if you arrive later in the day. There are a few parking lots here, but they are likely to fill up quickly; you can also try to find a parking spot within the local neighbourhood streets, which does allow for non-resident parking.
You have the option to rent beach loungers here, but there is even more space to lie your towel down. There’s also a beach hut that sells snacks and beers, and a beach restaurant. The water here is gorgeous and crystal clear, and although it has been calm most times I have visited, so there tend to be more families there. There are times when it can get some pretty big waves (when it does get like this, they section off an area for swimming).

Your other best Each Mallorca beach option is Cala Agulla, which is almost double the width of Cala Mesquida, and also has soft sand and crystal waters, and is a 15 minute drive south from Cala Mesquida, and about a 70 minute drive from Palma.
It does have a paid parking lot, which will likely fill up quickly in the summer months; you can also try to find parking in the neighbourhood.
There are some spots where you might stumble across rocks in the water, so be mindful of that. You will also find two beach kiosks, a beach restaurant, and sun loungers and umbrellas for rent here.

trobar is like nowhere else on the island, and a really fun experience, with incredible attention to design, down to the ceramics used for plating (which makes it a top choice for me). In addition to dining and drinks, the space also serves as an art gallery and shop. trobar spans three levels: at street level is `trobar gastronomy´, which offers a small plate menu of South American cuisine, blended with Mallorcan, and North American references. The `rooftop trobar´opened in June 2024, and is a little more casual, serving American-style bar snacks (think gourmet hotdogs + burgers, with a Mallorcan twist). And finally, there is `trobasement´, their underground cocktail lounge, featuring tequilas and mezcal cocktails.
`trobasement´ and `rooftop trobar´ are walk-in only. ‘trobasement’ is open Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday until midnight and on Friday & Saturday until 1am.

Port de Sóller
One of the best places on the island to catch a sunset, Port de Sóller also has some amazing beach front restaurants (but check to see if they are open, if you plan to travel there in the fall). It does have a bit of a touristy feel, but it’s a laidback one, and locals spend time on the beach here as well.
A small boat port lies at the north point, and beaches with beach chair rentals and outdoor showers (which is a bonus) begin in the centre along to the south. It is fairly small, and easy to walk along the cove, from boat harbour end to beach end easily. The main road will lead you into the center of Sóller, so you will need to choose your direction once you arrive.

If you are planning to spend time at the Port de Sóller beach, you might want to secure some beach chairs and an umbrella first, and leave your towels there before walking around, or even before heading out for a bite. The beach chair vendor will issue you a ticket, and the seats are yours until you choose to leave. Most people are pretty respectful of this, especially if there are towels left on the loungers. Although, it does sometimes irk people that you can hold these and wander off from them. I prefer sitting at the beach on the far left, as opposed to closer to the center, but it’s up to you, and where you might find free beach loungers (not all of the beach areas here have loungers / umbrellas).

The vibe feels high here, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The best way to eat at Blai is to share a bit of everything - make sure to try their bread and burrata, whatever salad is on their fresh sheet, and dessert is not to be missed. In addition to a really nice wine list, they also have an inventive cocktail menu. Plus, they have a large seaside patio, from which you can watch the tram go by (there’s also a small, nicely designed interior space).

Patiki Beach is the most beachfront you can get in Port de Sóller, and is essentially at the end of the cove, with a view looking up at the mountains, in behind the beach. It has a more casual beach deck feel, with rattan furniture and lighting, and sun umbrellas. Started by acclaimed local chef Grace Berrow, expect a progressive Mediterranean farm to table menu.
The portions can be rather big depending on what you order, so ask your server, as some dishes are better shared with larger groups (like their surprisingly massive green salad). Their bread is incredible, opt for whatever veg is in season, and Sóller prawns another must - but it’s hard to go wrong here. Their wine sheet is worth a peek as well.

Mallorcan Town destinations:
There are a lot of picturesque towns and villages to visit across Mallorca, if you are more keen on exploring, and less keen about spending time at the beach. This list only covers a small portion of them. For each town that has its own delightful cafés, restaurants and other visit worthy destinations, I encourage you to access them via WKDY Wanderer.
Sóller:
Sóller is a very pretty town to spend some time in, and one of the highlights is taking the Antique Train to arrive to and/or from here. More details on taking the train to Sóller and the tram onwards to Port de Sóller can be found within the Guide.
Walk up to the Plaça de la Constitució to start, and wander from there, everything is fairly close. The Saturday market is a nice time to visit. And, if you are there during the first couple weeks of June, you will catch the Fira de la Taronja, the orange harvest, when restaurants offer special menus that incorporate citrus as their star ingredient.

Hotel Corazón is the hotel I would stay at, if traveling to Mallorca. A renovated historic finca, their 15 rooms are sublime in their soft luxury: a pastel palette with pops of colour or texture through perfectly curated art and tapestry, rounded edges, draped textiles; each room is an ode to Mallorca’s natural materials and artisans. The property is a blend of wild splendor, which feels synonymous with the spirit of Mallorca. There are also no TVs here; take in the view instead, or go for a dip in the pool.
Nestled between Sóller and Deià / Valldemossa, it’s a bit more out of the way, but that’s exactly what you need for a relaxing vacation. Especially if it is your second or third time visiting the island, and you are looking for a stay at the hotel and rejuvenate type of holiday. This is a destination I would recommend having a rental car for, as this will be the only way to easily access the rest of the island from here.
Lucky for everyone, their restaurant is open to the public. Dining is al fresco, with views of the mountains. The menu is inspired by the hotel garden, which uses regenerative farm techniques to grow their own vegetables, flowers, and herbs. This is a special destination worthy of a visit.
They also offer workshops and yoga classes, and host pop-up shops and outdoor cinema evenings in collaboration with Cinema Paradiso.

Deià & Valldemossa
You can make it to both villages on the same day, and most restaurants are actually open on both Saturdays and Sundays (with some weekday closures), which is something to consider when planning.
The roads to get to Valldemossa, and especially to Deià, can be very windy, steep and narrow. You need to be careful to watch out for both oncoming traffic and cyclists. It is a drive with many gorgeous panoramas, this is true - but it can also feel like a bit of a stressful one, and parking is limited.
The driving conditions make this day trip a good choice for transit, if you didn’t rent a car. Plus, it’s easy to get to both towns via one direct transit line, TIB bus 203; the bus ride up to Deià, with a stop along the way in Valldemossa, takes about an hour, whereas the drive up is about 45 minutes. The last direct bus from Deià to Palma leaves around 9pm, and runs on the hour every hour or so up until then; plan for an earlier dinner up there, if you take transit. Taxi service is not consistently frequent, so keep that in mind.
Valldemossa:
The best thing to do in Valldemossa is to simply wander around. With its quaint stone houses, cobblestone streets, and flower-filled alleyways, it is one of the prettiest and most walkable medieval villages.
It’s easy to spend a few hours pleasantly wandering around. There are historic buildings you can visit, but I prefer just taking the town in.

De Moniö combines café with local artisan shop, and is somewhere you absolutely need to pop into. The white stone-walled interior exudes warmth and charm (even the bathroom is charming). The shop sells handcrafted jewelry (made by one of the super friendly owners), glassware and ceramics, along with a few other crafts. The perfect place to pick up a memento.
The excellent vegan menu offers fresh sandwiches, small plates, pastries, plus coffees and fresh pressed juices. Come here for breakfast or lunch, and also check out the selection of carefully chosen local wines and vermut to take back to your hotel (or home) with you.

Deià
Lunch & Dinner; closed Tu & We
🌞🌛🇹🇭🇻🇳🌱🌶️🍴🍹🍷🏞️
If you like Southeast Asian cuisine and a stunning view of a terraced mountainside, make a reservation on the Restaurant Nama patio. A pastel-hued patio with light features that sway in the breeze, the design is serene and lovely.
This is where I usually take people for their first time to Deià (especially if we have already eaten a fair bit of Mediterranean food). They also have vegan alternatives for some of their menu items. Try an order of the dumplings, spring rolls, lamb buns, and the tartar to share, along with a main dish or two; get the thai mango sticky rice for dessert.
Please note that for dinner, they have a minimum €50 spend per person.

The views from Es Pi are incredible, and the only restaurant you can see the sea from. Chef Marcel Ress presents a modern approach to Mediterranean cuisine, where local and seasonal products take centre stage.
You can also enjoy a cocktail and snacks from the Es Jardí terrace from 4pm - 11pm. Book your table here.
You will need a car to get to the Hotel Sa Pedrissa, as it is a drive from central Deià.

Datura is the creation of Mallorca-raised and NYC-influenced, Stefania Borras; it is her own line of timeless design and effortless femininity. Handmade in Mallorca, as well as Barcelona and NYC.
In addition to pieces from the Datura collections, you will find a hand-picked selection of accessories, ceramics, and magazines in store, like Spanish brands @hereu_ + @lacobalta. Plus, they sometimes host pop-ups in their studio, which is always fun.
Datura's conscious ethos promotes slow fashion through a tightly controlled manufacturing process, in which materials and processes matter.

Deià, at Belmond La Residencia
Dinner only 7:30pm - 10:30pm; open every day
🌛🇪🇸🍴🍷🌟🏞️
The incredible La Residencia hotel property is a dream. You can take a bit of a stroll around the property to admire the buildings and landscaping, and you can also dine here. The restaurants boast unparalleled views of the village.
For a romantic and elegant fine-dining experience of traditional Mediterranean and Mallorcan dishes. On the pricier side, count the ambience to be part of the value here (and do sit on the terrace). The menu sources vegetables from the hotel’s own lush garden.
Make a reservation, as this restaurant tends to book up early,

Just above El Olivo is Tramuntana Grill (which has just as nice of a romantic view), and offers both lunch and dinner.
With a casual Mediterranean lunch, the dinner menu is more relaxed as well, with market fresh fish, local meats and Sóller prawns (and as the name suggests, some grilled items from their wood-fired Josper oven).
Patio seating is ideal here as well.

Carrer de s’Horitzó, 21, 07314 Caimari

🌛🇪🇸🍴🍷✨
There is one last restaurant that deserves a place on this list, and that is One Sol Repsol destination Ca na Toneta. The space is shared between two separate little buildings: one with a quaint little artisan shop and wine bar, and the second hosting the two story restaurant that also offers patio seating (the patio features a series of charming wall paintings).
The space and menu are both whimsical and beautifully presented. Inspired by local ingredients, the menu is creative, and what I would consider finer dining. Fair warning, the portions here are on the smaller side.

SOLU is a small regenerative farm and lovingly restored finca in Alaró, that ‘builds soil, grows vegetables and makes wine.’
Here, you can sign up for various events: a Garden Experience which includes a full tour, followed by a communal table dinner (this would be my top pick); a Cooking Class where you will harvest, prepare and enjoy between 4-5 dishes; a Wine Tasting while enjoying SOLU finca views & some bites; or a Farm Tour.
*Please note that SOLU “reserve[s] the right to cancel event[s] in case the minimum attendance of 6-8 adults (event dependant) is not reached, until 48 hours before it starts.” Refer to website for more details
